The two aren’t on good terms with one another, but their daughters seem to get along. Sesshōmaru doesn’t acknowledge Inuyasha as a brother because he’s an illegitimate half-demon child. Sango’s relationship to Kohaku is important because Kohaku is a key character in the new series: he trains Sesshomaru’s daughter, Setsuna, and Miroku and Sango’s son, Hisui, in demon-slaying.Īnother key element is the complicated relationship between Inuyasha and his half-brother, Sesshōmaru. Throughout the original series, Sango is mainly trying to save Kohaku from Naraku’s control (Episodes 49-50). As for Sango, she joins Inuyasha to avenge her family that was slaughtered by her brother, Kohaku, who was possessed by a demon sent by Naraku (Episodes 24-26, 29-30 & 33). Miroku joins Inuyasha’s quest to stop Naraku because Naraku was the one that gave his family the “Wind Tunnel” curse (Episode 16). Their son Hisui joins Inuyasha’s and Sesshomaru’s daughters on their journey in the new series. The next character arcs you should focus on are those of Inuyasha’s comrades, Miroku and Sango, who eventually become a couple.

As the series progresses, the three end up in several melodrama instances that you may want to watch if you are interested in the romance aspect of the series (Episodes 147-151). The love triangle becomes complicated when Kagome begins to realize her feelings for Inuyasha (Episodes 22-23 & 48). The key episodes you should watch that sets up this love triangle include the first time Inuyasha and Kagome meet (Episodes 1 & 2) and how Kikyō was brought back to life (Episodes 14 & 15). In the spin-off series, Inuyasha and Kagome have a daughter named Moroha, but in the beginning, their relationship was a bit complicated due to Inuyasha’s lingering feelings for his past love, Kikyō.
Thus, the best way to address all these storylines is by chronologically organizing the episodes based on each character’s situation. The plot is simple, but the narrative structure is a bit complicated to follow because multiple side stories are happening simultaneously.
